Grapes
Grapes are high in antioxidants, nutrient-dense, and contain anti-inflammatory properties. A review of 24 studies concluded that grape products could greatly reduce C-reactive protein levels, a marker used to measure inflammation.
Furthermore, this arthritis-friendly food contains several beneficial compounds in treating arthritis, including resveratrol, an antioxidant in the skin of grapes.
A study performed on 110 people with knee osteoarthritis discovered that taking a 500mg resveratrol supplement alongside meloxicam for three months could decrease pain severity compared to meloxicam alone.
While more research in humans is required, a few animal studies have also shown that certain compounds found in grapes could decrease inflammation and delay the progression of certain types of arthritis.
That being said, let’s remember that these animal studies use high doses of antioxidants far greater than the amount a person would consume in a standard serving of grapes. So, more research is required to determine how these results translate to humans.
