Keep moving
Try to avoid sitting for too long. If someone has to sit for longer periods of time for work, then they should aim to get up and move around or even change positions.
This way, the blood will flow smoothly. Avoid sitting with your legs crossed, because this could further restrict blood flow to the legs and feet, which could add to your circulation problems.
Other medical treatments for varicose veins
If any of the home treatments you’ve tried don’t seem to work or cause you severe discomfort, you might want to try other effective medical treatments, such as:
- Endothermal ablation: This is a well-known procedure where heat is used to seal the affected veins.
- Ambulatory phlebectomy: The doctor will puncture the skin and remove the varicose veins through small slits. Scarring is generally minimal afterward.
- Sclerotherapy: This particular procedure uses a special foam that closes the veins and also shrinks them.
- Ligation and stripping: In this procedure, the varicose veins are surgically removed.
- Laser surgeries: intense bursts of light are directed onto the vein, which makes it gradually fade and disappear.
- Endoscopic vein surgery:Â During this surgery, a small video camera is inserted into the leg, so the surgeon can perform the procedure with more accuracy. Then, removal of the veins takes place via a series of small incisions.
